need to move to wordpress.com - advice needed

Guys,
I need to move my blogs to wordpress.com.
At the moment they are hosted on there own domain with hostgator.
Don't worry - i understand the restrictions wordpress.com applies but i need some advice on the following ...

1) When i come to move my content, I know i can download my posts into a xml file and then import them at my wordpress.com blog but what/how do i move my images that are in the posts?

2) im looking to change my urls from something like
http://www . myblogsite.com/this-is-my-first-post
to
http:// myblogsite.wordpress.com/this-is-my-first-post

Anyone know how to set this up as a 301 in .htaccess? i dont want to manually create a record for each post in my .htaccess file so is there a wildcard method i can use?
