Will "SERVER LOCATION" affect SERP ranking?

Looking to expand my network and am in the process of getting new hosting for my MNS.
Just curious if the 'location of my server' has anything to do with SERP / rankings.

For example, if I want to rank in Google.de, should I get hosting from a German Company with servers located in Germany? (based on IP address).
