Hey guys,
one of my clients was "unofficially" hit by Google Penguin. I didn't get a message but he went from 1st page for multiple keywords in his niche to 300+ positions on SERP.
I did a little backlink check, I'm not sure if these are SENUKE related or what, because I never created these links and I think he may have been hit by negative SEO. I found 1200 links pointing to "bungalow23". He has approximately 1500+ links total, yet only 80 of his overall links are actually showing his URL, Anchor Text, whether the site links back or not, and if its no follow. Out of his 80 links, 18 are no follow, that means he has 62 total links that are follow. Out of those 62, 58 of the links have the same synonym (which is the city he does business in - Toronto).
So here is my question for you pros:
1. He has a 94% density for 'Toronto' being in 58/62 links, but he also has like 1400+ links that are not pointing to his URL, don't link back, and are 'dead'. So what is hurting him here? Is it his anchor text density that had him completely disappear off SERPS for everything but his own company name, or is it the fact he has so many of these dead/spammy/low PR links?
My solution so far is to just create link diversity, bring as many different anchor texts as possible without the city he does business in. Is this the right approach? I've already disavowed all those spammy looking links about 3 weeks ago, I'm still waiting to see if the process plays out (I read it's about a 6-8 week timeline for disavowed links to go through, is that accurate?)
Thanks ahead!
