I am well aware this thread will start controversy. But I'm just stating what has been working for me since I started ranking websites.

This specific website I'm talking about has EXACT 2,500 monthly searches with a CPC of 8.50 with High competition (according to google's keyword tool), the first page of results range from websites having PR 3-5 mine is the only PR 0
I've been on the first page since September 8th and this site was registered approx two months ago.
What I find funny about this is the site has absolutely NO original content... this is a well made html website but I totally just copy/pasted my content from another site (I was lazy that day ha) while just having about 5 pages with not even 500 words each. Something I can confirm from 8 out of 10 of my websites is that, CONTENT IS NOT KING. I actually find it funny when people are all content is king! content is king! stop building backlinks! LOL, I actually remember messaging people on here thanking them for giving me advice on content is king; nothing farther from the truth.
Also none of the Google's updates actually targeted CONTENT, none. I don't know where people got sidetracked with that bologna but to each their own.
Also, this website just has about 10k facebook likes that I remember getting about a month ago, from MY experience social signs are good to justify the back linking you'll do to your site. I don't have any AMAZING on page seo on it BUT I am targetting around 5-7 keywords on it.
Long story short I didn't touch it after the original first week, I honestly pretty much forgot about it since I'vee been building around 3 websites per day but three days ago I just started building backlinks again on it because it was on position five for it's main two keywords I pointed 70 web2.0 profiles (not blogs) and 100 wiki links, then blasted those 70 web2.0's with 50 social bookmarks and 10 wiki links.
By the way all those had spun low quality content, again... content is not king. Google targets low quality pages/websites but NOT the content. I'm living proof, and not just with this site.
By doing what I stated above I quickly went back up to first place even before the original brand.
If you look at my site using ahrefs it says it has 200 backlinks 140 do follow and 60 no follow pointing to it.
This isn't exactly a blueprint on how to rank a website, this was merely to make people understand that content doesn't mean anything. Don't take this the wrong way I actually have other authority websites with original high quality content but that's only because I was interested in them.
